Reconstruction of tram tracks in Daugavpils

The project included the reconstruction of tram tracks in the city centre with a total of 3.4 km of tracks being renovated and upgraded.
The public transport infrastructure was made to be more environmentally friendly and safer – new rails were installed, and the catenaries were adapted for the pantographs used on the new trams that will run on the restored track routes.
The rail joints are welded rather than connected using joint plates and each rail is covered on both sides with plasticised rubber, reducing traffic noise and vibration.
