Construction works began in November 2024 and were carried out in three phases to maintain traffic flow throughout the reconstruction. Two traffic lanes in each direction were kept open during each phase.
Following reconstruction, the bridge features:
- two traffic lanes in each direction;
- pedestrian infrastructure on both sides of the bridge;
- cycling infrastructure;
- public transport services;
- improved accessibility for people with reduced mobility.
Construction works on the bridge:
- demolition of existing structures;
- installation of reinforcement;
- concreting works;
- construction of the road pavement structure;
- waterproofing;
- asphalt paving;
- installation of railings, safety barriers and protective walls.
Construction works beneath the bridge:
- Repair of piers and crossbeams;
- Repair of the underside of the bridge spans;
- Application of protective coatings.
Construction works on the bridge approaches:
- Removal of the existing road surface;
- Stormwater drainage system installation;
- Construction of new road pavement structures;
- Asphalt paving;
- Construction of pavements and cycle paths;
- Improvement of adjacent streets.
